Will and Kate are scheduled to arrive at the Calgary Stampede Parade shortly! Here they are having a blast at the BMO Centre event last night.
The big red button: Will and Kate will push this to launch the fireworks that kick off the Calgary Stampede…
This morsel by Calgary’s Jelly Modern Doughnuts is called an Eton Mess and is allegedly the first thing William ever asked the Royal Chef to teach him to make!
Update: Thanks to ChaBla for commenting below. Apparently this isn’t the actual Eton Mess, but a doughnut which represents the actual dessert. We’ll take one of each, thank you!
Judging by Kate and Will’s relaxed and casual attire up North these past two days, I think all signs are good that they’ll embrace the spirit of Stampede and get duded up for their arrival in Calgary tomorrow.
In PEI a few days back, Will mentioned he was looking forward to Stampede and joked about wearing chaps and how he likes to do things right…so it’ll be fun to see what the final fashion statement ends up being.
How about you? What’s your dress code for Stampede?
And if a girl was going to spend a few hours wandering downtown Calgary in search of classy cowboy fashion (hmmm, are those mutually exclusive terms), where might she look first?
Prince William has a laugh despite the rain after his team won the Dragon Boat race two days ago at Dalvay-by-the-Sea in PEI.
When you watch Will and Kate together over several days and in all sorts of improbable situations as I have been doing this past week, you begin to have hope that this is a royal marriage with real glue.
I took this in front of Province House today in Charlottetown, PEI, one of their first stops of the day. The sky was grey but the mood was light.
These two are always giving each other gentle little touches and exchanging secret smiles. They are as adorable to watch as any happy newlyweds anywhere on the planet—which is saying something when you consider they’re essentially having to honeymoon in the public eye.

The Royals are welcomed aboard the HMCS Montreal frigate to sail the St Lawrence to Quebec City
There’s something bittersweet about standing in dappled light on a warm Ottawa day looking at the oak tree that Charles and Di planted together back in 1983.
It held up better than they did.
I hope Will and Kate’s marriage thrives along with the eastern hemlock they are planting here today…
Meet Prudence Rajaobelina (left), of Madagascar and now a passport-carrying Canadian! She was one of the 25 new citizens from 14 countries who were officially welcomed by Will and Kate yesterday at the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa.
(She was cheered on by friend Dinorah Catzalco and baby Emile Gilbert-Catzalco.)
Prudence says she loves to travel in Canada and wants to see much more of her newly adopted country.
Where do you think she should travel next?

Reflecting on Day 1 of the Royal Tour in Ottawa, the national capital.
Tomorrow is Canada Day. I will be checking off a bucket-list item when I sing O Canada on Parliament Hill at noon with 200,000 other voices.
Canada will be 144. Coincidentally, Princess Diana would have turned 50.
I like to think she will join us in spirit tomorrow to celebrate all the gifts we’ve been been given as a nation–including young Will and Kate.
